Rates, fees, and markup
Set day rates, markup, surcharges like KSK, and work with a foreign currency.
This page covers how a budget line turns into a number: how you count days, the rate, the markup on top, surcharges, and working across two currencies. Most of these are set as project-wide defaults and can be overridden on individual lines.
Set the defaults in project Settings, under the Budget tab.
Counting days: PSW or Factor
Each project counts a line item's days in one of two shapes, chosen under Settings → Budget:
- Prep / Shoot / Wrap (PSW) — three separate columns for the three phases of a shoot. Use this when prep, shoot, and wrap days are priced or counted differently.
- Factor — a single multiplier. Simpler, when you don't need the three-phase split.
Alongside the day count, each line has a quantity and a rate, which combine into the line's total.
Markup
Markup is a percentage added on top of a cost — your margin. Set a default markup for the whole budget under Settings → Budget, and override it on individual lines where needed. An Mk% column on each line shows what's applied.
Surcharges
Surcharges are named percentage add-ons for things like KSK, AGA, or §50a (German production levies). Add them under Settings → Budget with a name and a rate; each appears as its own column in the budget so you can see its effect per line. Like markup, a global surcharge can be overridden further down.
Tip
Foreign currency
A project has a domestic currency (its main one) and can add a foreign currency with an exchange rate, set under Settings → Budget. This lets you budget costs quoted in another currency while keeping the budget's headline totals in your domestic one.
The totals
At the foot of the budget you'll see the grand total, alongside the live Allocated and Actual figures. See Allocated vs Actual.
