Timing view
A print-ready, month-by-month overview of your timeline that you can export as a PDF.
The Timing view turns your timeline into a clean, print-ready overview — one column per month, with the days running down the page and each item shown as a coloured bar. It's the view to reach for when you want a one-page picture of the whole production to share, pin up, or hand out, rather than the detailed track-based editor.
Open it from the View dropdown in the timeline top bar and choose Timing. Switch back the same way by choosing Editor.

How it reads
- Months are columns. Each month is a column, side by side, with its days listed top to bottom. The columns cover the span of your dated items and your project's shoot dates.
- Items are coloured bars. Every timeline item appears as a bar coloured by its stream, running down the days it covers. Bars for overlapping items sit in side-by-side lanes so nothing is hidden.
- Milestones are dashed lines. A milestone — such as a delivery date — shows as a dashed line across its day, labelled with its name.
Each bar carries its stream's colour, so a glance tells you which department is where. Colours come from the stream itself; set or change a stream's colour from its ⋮ menu in the Editor view (Color). See Timeline basics.
Controls
The controls live in a rail down the left. The Streams list at the top acts as a set of on/off toggles — click a stream to hide it, click again to bring it back — so you can focus the view on the departments you care about. Below that:
- Density — Comfortable or Compact. Compact fits more days into the same height for long shoots.
- Months — Fill stretches the months to fill the width; Fit keeps them tight to the dated items with a little context either side.
- Shade weekends — tint Saturdays and Sundays so weeks are easy to scan.
- Calendar weeks — show the calendar-week number against each week.
- Show times — show each item's start and end time on its bar (where there's room).
You can collapse the rail to give the overview more room, and open it again when you need the controls.
Editing from the Timing view
Clicking a bar or milestone opens an inspector on the right, where you can:
- rename the item (its Label),
- move it to a different stream,
- change its Start and End dates,
- Duplicate it, or
- Delete it.
These are the same timeline items as in the Editor view — a change you make here changes the real timeline and shows up in the editor too. As everywhere in CrewGrid, editing the timeline doesn't touch any booking or call sheet on its own; you push changes out separately. See How scheduling works.
Exporting to PDF
The Timing view is built to print. Click Export to choose a page size (A2, A3, or A4) and an orientation (Landscape or Portrait), then Export PDF.
This opens your browser's own print dialog — choose Save as PDF there to get the file. Only the timing overview is printed, not the app's menus and controls, so you get a clean sheet.
