Snapshots
Save named versions of your timeline to use as a stable source for bookings and call sheets.
A snapshot is a saved, named version of your timeline at a moment in time — items, streams, and their links to crew, frozen together. Snapshots do two jobs: they're bookmarks you can return to, and they can serve as a stable source for building bookings and call sheets.
Open the Snapshots panel from the timeline top bar.
Not the same as budget snapshots
Saving a snapshot
Enter a name (for example "Client-approved v2"), add optional notes, and save. CrewGrid freezes the current timeline under that name.
Crucially, saving a snapshot doesn't send anything to anyone — no bookings change, no emails go out. It only records a version. See How scheduling works.

Why use a snapshot as a source
When you build a booking or call sheet, you choose whether to base it on the live timeline (your current draft) or a snapshot. Basing it on a snapshot is useful when you want a booking pinned to a version that won't shift as you keep tinkering — for example, the schedule a client signed off on. The booking then re-seeds from that snapshot rather than the live plan, until you decide otherwise.
After you save: the prompt to propagate
When you save a snapshot, CrewGrid offers a quick way to push your latest plan out to everything that's affected — a Propagate shortcut. You don't have to take it; it's there for the moment a snapshot marks a decision you want your crew to see. See Propagating changes.
Deleting
You can delete a snapshot you no longer need — but not while something still depends on it. If a booking or call sheet is pinned to a snapshot as its source, CrewGrid blocks the deletion so you don't pull the ground out from under active work.
Where to go next
- Propagating changes
- Sending a booking request — choose a snapshot as the source.
- Budget snapshots — the budget's own snapshots.
