Propagating changes

Push your latest plan out to bookings and call sheets in one reviewed step.

When you've reworked the schedule and several bookings and call sheets are now behind your plan, Propagate is the one-step way to bring them all up to date — the alternative to re-seeding each booking and call sheet by hand.

The concept

Propagate is a batch re-seed: bookings and call sheets only change when you push your plan to them, and you review everything first. How scheduling works explains why.

Open it with the Propagate button on the timeline top bar (it's also offered as a shortcut right after you save a snapshot).

What Propagate does

Propagate opens a single panel listing everything that's out of sync with your plan — every booking and every call sheet that would change if you pushed the current plan to it. You review the list, choose what to push, and confirm once. CrewGrid then re-seeds all the selected items together.

Choosing the source

At the top you pick the source to propagate from:

  • Live timeline — your current working plan.
  • Snapshot — a specific saved version.

Grouped by how big the change is

To help you decide what to push, the affected items are grouped into tiers by the significance of the change:

  • Material — meaningful changes, such as a shift in someone's working days or a change of day type. These are the ones people usually need to hear about.
  • Schedule-only — schedule changes that aren't material in the same way.
  • Cosmetic — minor, presentational differences.

You can select everything in a tier at once, or pick individual items. This lets you push the important changes now and leave the trivial ones for later — or send them all together.

Notifying people

As with any re-seed, propagating can notify the affected people. Whether the notify option is on by default depends on your project settings, and CrewGrid errs toward notifying when a change is material (unless the project is in Live mode). See Re-seeding bookings for how notification works, and Project settings for Live mode.
