Contacts
Keep a directory of your internal team and external crew to book from.
Contacts is your organization's directory of people — the crew and collaborators you book. It's shared across all your projects, so someone you add once is available to book on any production. Reach it from Contacts in the organization sidebar.
Internal and external contacts
Contacts fall into two groups:
- Internal team — people who are members of your organization.
- External contacts — freelancers and outside crew you work with but who aren't on your team.
The distinction matters in a few places — for example, some rate-card changes apply immediately for internal team members rather than needing approval (see Adjustments and rate changes).

Finding a contact
Search by name or email to filter the directory. This is the same search you'll use when booking someone onto a role.
Adding a contact
Add a contact with their details. CrewGrid offers common production roles as presets — Camera Operator, Gaffer, Key Grip, Sound Mixer, Art Director, Producer, Director, Editor, and many more — to make adding people quick.
Once someone is in your contacts, you can add them to a role and send a booking request. See Crews and roles and Sending a booking request.
Contacts and the marketplace
Contacts are separate from the marketplace, where you can discover freelancers who've made themselves findable. When you find someone in the marketplace, you send them a contact request — once they accept, they join your contacts and you can book them. See Finding crew on the marketplace.
