Finding crew on the marketplace

Discover freelancers who've made themselves findable, and connect with them through a contact request.

The Marketplace is where you discover people you don't already know. It lists freelancers who have chosen to be findable — every result is someone who turned on Findable on marketplace in their profile — plus companies that have filled out a public description. There's no way to browse people who haven't opted in.

Open it from Marketplace in the organization sidebar. Two tabs sit at the top: Freelancers and Companies.

Searching and filtering

The filter bar sits above the results:

  • Search by name or headline — matches the freelancer's display name or their headline (the short line describing what they do).
  • Location — filter by where they're based.
  • Filter by skill — on the Freelancers tab only. Pick from suggestions (Director, DoP, Gaffer, Sound Mixer, and so on) or type your own and press Enter. Selected skills show as pills; remove one with its × or use Clear all.

The Companies tab keeps just the search and location filters. Results load 20 at a time — click Load more for the next page. Freelancers on the Pro plan appear first.

What a card shows

Each freelancer card shows their photo, display name (with a PRO badge where relevant), headline, city, and up to four skill pills. Only the city is shown — a freelancer's full address is never displayed. A company card shows the company's name, city, description, and website.

Each freelancer card has two actions: View Profile and Send contact request.

Viewing a profile

View Profile opens the freelancer's public profile: their bio, skills, experience, languages, links (website, IMDb, LinkedIn), and — for Pro freelancers — a portfolio of work samples. Rates aren't shown on the marketplace; those are agreed per engagement through rate cards once you're working together.

You won't see anyone's calendar here either. If a freelancer chooses to share an availability hint, it appears later as a simple colour dot when you're booking them onto a role — see Sending a booking request.

Connecting with a freelancer

The marketplace connects you to a freelancer through a contact request — you can't add someone to your directory without their consent.

On their card or profile, click Send contact request.

Optionally add a short message saying why you'd like to connect, then click Send request.

The freelancer sees your request on their dashboard and can accept or reject it. Once they accept, they're added to your Contacts as an external contact, linked to their CrewGrid account.

The card shows Request sent until they respond.

From contact to booking

Booking doesn't happen on the marketplace itself. Once a freelancer has accepted your contact request, book them the same way as anyone else in your directory: add them to a role and send a booking request. Because they're on CrewGrid, the request lands directly in their account.

If someone you expect to find isn't listed, they probably haven't turned on Findable on marketplace. You can still work with them — add them to your contacts manually with their name and email instead.
